Our History & Journey
Located in the heart of Kilifi County, Kilifi-North Sub-County, Sidzeni village in Matsangoni, about 20.3Km from Kilifi and 1km to Matsangoni. Our educational journey commenced in 2010 with the establishment of Arabuko Forest Senior School. This institution was more than just a school; it embodied the visionary project of the African Muslim Agency (AMA), now known as Direct Aid International.
From its inception, Arabuko Forest Senior School's purpose was clear - to provide high-quality secondary education to Muslim children, especially those who had faced adversity in their young lives.
At its core, Direct Aid International had a noble mission: to monitor and offer top-tier education to Muslim orphans and other vulnerable children who had successfully completed their primary education within the organization's vast network of primary schools. Arabuko Forest Senior School became a beacon of hope for these young minds, offering them the chance for a brighter future through education.
The school has not only provided education but also instilled spiritual discipline, fostered talent, and nurtured young minds to become responsible citizens. The school's commitment to academic excellence, coupled with its dedication to its students' well-being, has earned it a special place in the hearts of the community it serves.
Direct Aid International
Founded in 1981 as the Africa Muslims Agency (AMA) by the visionary Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Sumait, Direct Aid has been a cornerstone of humanitarian development in Kenya and across Africa for over 44 years. The organization is dedicated to implementing sustainable projects that support the continent's most vulnerable populations.
Direct Aid's impact is profound, particularly in education and healthcare. It has established hundreds of schools, clinics, and hospitals. A landmark achievement in Kenya is the establishment of Umma University, which now operates as a fully-chartered institution of higher learning. Beyond infrastructure, the organization has consistently provided vital relief during humanitarian crises, such as droughts and famines, across the continent.
At its core, Direct Aid’s mission is to empower communities for the future. It focuses on preparing the youth with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world, fostering leadership and breaking cycles of poverty. This success is built on a collaborative model that unites donors, implementation teams, and local beneficiaries to create lasting, positive change.
As Direct Aid continues its journey, it honors the enduring legacy of its founders, Dr. Al-Sumait and Mohammed Farid Choonara. Their unwavering commitment to compassion, education, and progress remains the driving force behind the organization's transformative work, ensuring a sustainable impact for generations to come.
